The Jewish Camden Partnership brings together the South Jersey Jewish community with our neighbors in Camden City to collaborate in building Camden’s economic, social and cultural foundation. United in our work, our partnership is guided by the common pursuit of justice and the desire to transform both communities. By working closely with grassroots and faith-based groups, schools and businesses in Camden, the JCP seeks to promote understanding and assist in strengthening Camden's neighborhoods. As committed Jews, many of whom have historical ties to the City of Camden, we are guided by the principles of tzedek (justice) and tikkun olam (healing of the world).
When invited by a community, JCP will offer assistance in addressing the issues important to that community. Some of the skills and resources JCP provides are: access to volunteers and technical experts, organizational capacity building, community organizing and issue advocacy, strategic planning, community development and research. Why Now?
The Jewish community of Southern New Jersey was born and raised in the city of Camden. As the population and the region matured and grew, it moved out to the developing suburban communities to the east, north and south. Many Jews maintain a strong connection to Camden City which is a key part of our South Jersey region, the county seat, and its health is part of our own. Camden is now one of the poorest cities in the nation, but with an infusion of investment and attention by New Jersey’s leaders, it is now poised to make real changes in infrastructure and capacity. Our partnership with community groups seeks bring systemic change into Camden’s neighborhoods, ensuring that revitalization efforts truly benefit the people of Camden. How You Can Help JCP is looking for individuals to become part of the Jewish community's commitment to Camden's revitalization. Whether you have specialized skills, access to resources, or just want to volunteer your time and energy, we invite you to join us. Get Involved |
